Finding sworn translators in Indonesia
Sworn translators are officially recognized and authorized by the government of Indonesia to provide translation services for legal and official documents. These translators have passed a certification exam which was re-taken in 2022 and have met certain requirements in order to obtain their certification. You can also ask translation agencies in Indonesia, such as PT Indo Lingua Translocalize, a sworn translation agency in Indonesia, for detailed contacts of sworn translators in Indonesia. Many translation companies and professional associations maintain lists of certified translators.
Alternatively, if you are looking for sworn translators in Indonesia for any language pairs, and or already identified one, make sure that the sworn translator is already registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. You can check the complete list on the Ministry’s website https://apostille.ahu.go.id You need to log in to get the complete list by entering your Single Identity Number (NIK) or other identification documents.
If the translator’s name is listed there as you can find in the screenshot below, the author is a sworn translator already registered in the Ministry, you can be sure that all your documents can be used in Indonesia or abroad. If not, most likely the translators are certified translators of the Indonesian Translator Association (HPI) or sworn translators officiated by one of the Governors in Indonesia and not yet officiated by the Ministry.
